by

Today, November 8 2017, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Gesetzgebung (DGG )/German Society for Legislation is celebrating its 30th anniversary.

The DGG (German Society for Legislation) was founded in Bonn in 1987 by Prof. Dr. Ulrich Karpen, a law professor at the University of Hamburg, former chairman of the International Association of Legislation (IAL) and currently member of its board and by Mr. Herbert Helmrich, a politician and lawyer.

The goal of the DGG is to impulse the improvement of legislation on a national, regional and local level, by organizing events on law projects and legal policies. The DGG also gives out an award for “good legislation” to distinguish outstanding and exemplary laws or academic projects in the field of legislation. The DGG gathers not only members of parliament, government officials, university professors and solicitors but also people in general who are interested in legal drafting and better regulation.

The anniversary ceremony will be held in Berlin, at the Confederation that represents the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hiroshimastraße 12, 10785 Berlin, Germany), from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m.
